Demon Underground Series by: Parker Blue

Here's another book to go loco for dear vampire/hunter fanatics. I admit at first I used to ignore this ebook because I thought its just another teen-vampire book but my curiosity got the best of me.lol, and when I visited the website of Parker Blue and saw tons of praises and good feedbacks for this series..wow...I decided to give it a try...and I was never disappointed. :)

This Demo Underground Series rocks....

Book 1 - Bite Me

Eighteen-year-old Valentine Shapiro got a raw deal in the parent lottery. Her father was part incubus demon, and her mother's never forgiven her for that. Thrown out of the house by her mother, Val does the only thing that seems to make any sense—she takes aim at the town vampires. A stake a day keeps the demon at bay. Soon enough, she finds herself deep in the underbelly of the city, discovering the secrets of the Demon Underground with the help of her faithful hellhound, Fang, and fighting to save those she loves. Whether they love her back or not.

Book 2 - Try Me

This part-demon teen vampire fighter and her faithful terrier hellhound are once again patrolling the dark streets of San Antonio, Texas. Val's hunky human partner, Detective Dan Sullivan, is giving her the cold shoulder since she beheaded his vampire fiancée. Vamp leader Alejandro is struggling to keep the peace between vamps, demons and humans. The mucho powerful Encyclopedia Magicka has been stolen, someone in the Demon Underground is poisoning vamps, and Val's inner lust demon, Lola, is getting very restless since Val's now partnered with sexy Shade, the shadow demon with the blond good looks of an angel.

Book 3 - Fang Me

The vampires want it. The demons want it too. And someone is willing to kill Val for it.

Val and Fang have to find the powerful Encyclopedia Magicka before either of San Antonio’s warring underworld factions locate it, or the consequences will be deadly for the entire city. As usual, Val’s vampire enemies (they still call her The Slayer), want her dead, and even some of her fellow demons may be less than trustworthy, since they'd like to grab the legendary book of spells before she does. Val has a personal claim to the Encyclopedia--her demon father left it to her when he died--but someone stole it recently. And that can’t be good.

Battling vamps and dodging demons, Val struggles to unravel the mystery and find the thief. At the same time, she's fighting her attraction to sweet, sexy Shade, her favorite shadow demon. Rumor has it that Val will lose her part-demon, vampire-fighting powers if she gives herself to him.

With a crowd of vamps and demons out to trick her or kill her, it’s not a good time for her to risk her job as the city's best vampire hunter by falling in love. The stakes are high and aimed right at her heart. But Lola, Val's hungry little lust demon, doesn't like being denied. Will Lola finally get her way?

What’s a part-lust-demon-teen supposed to do? Whatever it takes.

Book 4 - To be continued...

TV Show Review: The Vampire Diaries

no download link folks, just an honest review from a fan :)

The Vampire Diaries: What makes it so addicting

I’m one of the million people, who became addicted to The Vampire Diaries, despite the fictional story; this show has become one of my favorites among all other TV Series whether internationally or locally. I’m always updated to the latest episode of this show, I have watched season one repeatedly and I don’t think I will ever be tired of watching the second season again and again.

What’s good with the show is its great roster of actors and actresses who made the series worth watching.

I specially love Ian Somerhalder’s character as Damon Salvatorre – a bad ass vampire who fell madly inlove with his brother’s girl friend Elena Gilbert as portrayed by Nina Dobrev. Damon is my favorite character, he is the foremost reason why I like this series; I love his sense of humor, witty remarks, and good-looking-bad-ass attitude. I like the fact that despite him being a seemingly soulless character a weak human girl has made him defenseless and humane.

Stefan’s character – a good vampire brother of Damon, whom the Elena chose, is also quite good.  His character was played by an equally good looking Paul Wesley. I have noticed though that more people love Damon-Elena tandem compare to that of Stefan-Elena’s.

Nina Dobrev’s double character portrayal is exceptionally great too. Her sweet, fragile but strongwilled character as Elena, gives her a very effective heroine side and despite her selfishness, I also love her flirty-bad little character as Katherine because she really gives spice and thrill to the show. All other characters, vampire, human or werewolf are also remarkable.

The series’ story is set at a very historic Mystic Falls where everyone knows each other and people almost literally grew up together.

The TV Series is an adaptation from the novel of L.J. Smith with the same title, and as much as I love the TV version I have notice its huge difference from the novel, the only thing they adapt exactly are the names of the characters, their roles and affinity is not exactly based on the book.

One example is the role of Caroline - in the TV Series she’s the Sheriff’s daughter who fell inlove with Matt and later on turned into a vampire, in the book however Caroline is not a daughter of the Sheriff, not Matt’s girl and definitely did not became a vampire. Also if you read the book, Elena has a little sister and a strong willed best friend named Meredith, in the series Meredith’s character is totally not included in season 1 & 2 and just materialize in season 3 as a love interest of Rick, and Elena has no sister in the series, she instead has a brother named Jeremy.

Yet despite its obvious difference from the book series I fell addicted to this show, i have read the book and I liked it but the TV adaptation is more endearing and heart turning and I hope they will create another season when the second season ends.

The Hunger Games Trilogy By: Suzanne Collins

I have seen the movie before I have the opportunity to read the book. The movie was great, has the best plot for me and in all honesty it was the reason why I decided to look for and the trilogy.

Hope you enjoy this trilogy...

THE HUNGER GAMES

Katniss is a 16-year-old girl living with her mother and younger sister in the poorest district of Panem, the remains of what used to be the United States. Long ago the districts waged war on the Capitol and were defeated. As part of the surrender terms, each district agreed to send one boy and one girl to appear in an annual televised event called, "The Hunger Games." The terrain, rules, and level of audience participation may change but one thing is constant: kill or be killed. When her sister is chosen by lottery, Katniss steps up to go in her place.

CATCHING FIRE
Much to her shock, Katniss has fueled an unrest she's afraid she cannot stop. And what scares her more is that she's not entirely convinced she should try. As time draws near for Katniss and Peeta to visit the districts on the Capitol's cruel Victory Tour, the stakes are higher than ever. If they can't prove, without a shadow of a doubt, that they are lost in their love for each other, the consequences will be horrifying.

MOCKINGJAY
Katniss Everdeen, girl on fire, has survived, even though her home has been destroyed. There are rebels. There are new leaders. A revolution is unfolding.

Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead

Another Vampire Series that you can go loco for, this is another Richelle Mead’s collection. And knowing Ms. Mead's style and prowess i'm sure this series will never loose the knack for thrills, suspense and romance.

Enjoy the excerpt below...and of course the book :)

#1 - Vampire Academy

Lissa Dragomir is a Moroi princess: a mortal vampire with an unbreakable bond to the earth's magic. She must be protected at all times from Strigoi; the fiercest and most dangerous vampires--the ones who never die.

The powerful blend of human and vampire blood that flows through Rose Hathaway, Lissa's best friend, makes her a Dhampir; she is dedicated to a dangerous life of protecting Lissa from the Strigoi, who are hell-bent on making her one of them.

#2 - Frostbite

Rose Hathaway's got serious guy trouble.  Her gorgeous tutor Dimitri has his eye on someone else, her friend Mason has a huge crush on her, and she keeps getting stuck in her best friend Lissa's head while she's making out with her boyfriend, Christian.  (So not cool).

Then a massive Strigoi attack puts St. Vladimir's on high alert, and the Academy crawls with Guardians--including the legendary Janine Hathaway...Rose's formidable, long-absent mother.  The Strigoi are closing in, and the Academy's not taking any risks.  This year, St. Vlad's annual holiday ski trip is mandatory.

#3 - Shadow Kiss

It's springtime at St. Vladimir's Academy, and Rose Hathaway is this close to graduation. Since making her first Strigoi kills, Rose hasn't been feeling quite right. She's having dark thoughts, behaving erratically, and worst of all...might be seeing ghosts.

As Rose questions her sanity, new complications arise. Lissa has begun experimenting with her magic once more, their enemy Victor Dashkov might be set free, and Rose's forbidden relationship with Dimitri is starting to heat up again. But when a deadly threat no one saw coming changes their entire world, Rose must put her own life on the line--and choose between the two people she loves most.

#4 - Blood Promise

Rose Hathaway's life will never be the same.

The recent attack on St. Vladimir's Academy devastated the entire Moroi world. Many are dead. And, for the few victims carried off by Strigoi, their fates are even worse. A rare tattoo now adorns Rose's neck, a mark that says she's killed far too many Strigoi to count. But only one victim matters . . . Dimitri Belikov. Rose must now choose one of two very different paths: honoring her life's vow to protect Lissa—her best friend and the last surviving Dragomir princess—or, dropping out of the Academy to strike out on her own and hunt down the man she loves. She'll have to go to the ends of the earth to find Dimitri and keep the promise he begged her to make. But the question is, when the time comes, will he want to be saved?

 #5 - Spirit Bound

Dimitri gave Rose the ultimate choice. But she chose wrong…
After a long and heartbreaking journey to Dimitri’s birthplace in Siberia, Rose Hathaway has finally returned to St. Vladimir’s—and to her best friend, Lissa. It is nearly graduation, and the girls can’t wait for their real lives beyond the Academy’s iron gates to begin. But Rose’s heart still aches for Dimitri, and he's out there, somewhere.

She failed to kill him when she had the chance. And now her worst fears are about to come true. Dimitri has tasted her blood, and she knows in her heart that he is hunting her. And if Rose won't join him, he won't rest until he's silenced her...forever.

The Vampire Diaries by L.J. Smith

Vampires are everywhere and since reading my first vampire book (Twilight) I have made it a point to check some of the good reads with respect to this genre. This is where I stumble upon the Vampire Diaries. This series from L.J. Smith is ready one of a kind. It's  teen fiction with lots of twist complete with first love, friendship, death and magic.

I instantly love Elena and has wished for her and Stefan to be together. I don't like Damon then but imagine my surprise when I saw the TV series from the CW....Damon Salvatorre being played by my long-time crush Ian Somerhalder....wow. I instantly switch from being Elena/Stefan fan into Elena/Damon fan. lol.

Anyway enough of me, I know you're dying to read the books too, especially now that the season 4 of the TV series is still yet to come.

Book Review: Dark Swan Series by Richelle Mead

I know, I know that I have posted about Eugenie Markham but this post contains no download link...just an honest review of Ms. Richelle Mead's book.

Richelle Mead's Dark Swan Series: A Highly Recommended Adult Book Series

Reading Richelle Mead’s series can really make my day, her writing style is really amazing and I can say that she’s my top favorite among urban fantasy authors. I have read most of her work from Vampire Academy to Succubus Series and I love them all but my most favorite is her series about Eugenie Markham called the Dark Swan.
Eugenie Markham is a shaman, a tough ass human woman who made a living by battling and sending faeries (gentry), ghost and otherworldly spirits back to their own world or even to the underworld (if things get worse) – the world where no one can return. She prefer to be called Odile and her name is feared in the otherworld. She surpassed all the other shamans in the world including her step-dad who taught her everything about being a gentry mercenary.

Little did she know that she’s one of them – the first book revealed that Eugenie is half human and half gentry; her human mother was abducted by a faery king and kept in the otherworld until Roland, her step-dad free her.

The best part is when she became the queen of one of the Faery Kingdoms against her will and she discovered that she has a half-sister who wants to beat her in fulfilling the prophecy that one of them will born a child that would conquer both worlds – human world and the otherworld.

I love Eugenie, her character is so great and I get adrenaline rush each time I read the book.

This series is not just another teen flicks, it is packed with ass-kicking action, hot scenes and earth-shattering magic.

Dark Swan Series has three (3) books now, the first book from the series is entitled Storm Born – highlighting Eugenie’s discovery of her hidden power which she got from her real father - Tirigan, the Storm King. The second book, Thorn Queen, is about Eugenie and her quest in the otherworld as the new queen of the Thorn Land, this book highlights her misadventures and victories including her relationship with the other faery king.

The third book which is the last book for now is named Iron Crowned; here, Eugenie set to a hard and seemingly impossible journey in order to get the very powerful and dangerous Iron Crown which according to the prophecy will stop the ongoing war of their kingdom against the Rowan Land, she was able to get the crown and true to the prophecy she has stop the war and got the Rowan Land in return.

With the way the story is going and knowing Richelle Mead’s style, there’s more to come, I just hope it will come sooner because I can’t wait to read another Eugenie misadventures again.

Twilight by Stephenie Meyer

Twilight is the first vampire book i read and i enjoyed it, i use to avoid books about supernaturals or ghost but when i heard how others go crazy over this Stephenie Meyer’s blockbuster i got curious and tried to read it and what can i say, i enjoyed it! I even grab the pdf copies of the other books from this series and got too sad when i finished them early.

I have watched the movies and they were all good but I still prefer the story in the book. It's more realistic and more vivid. I did not say that Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart did not do justice on being Edward and Bella, they were good in fact but if I were to choose I would always go for the book version.

Please wait for the ebooks. I'm just organizing my files. Thanks

Georgina Kincaid Series by Richelle Mead

This is one of my all time favorites among fiction books, This made me look for all Richelle Mead works, This succubus series is really hot, it made me think that Georgina Kincaid is real and i know most people will want to trade place with her. lol. she made being evil a classy and chic role :)

Georgina Kincaid – A HOT shapeshifting servant of hell with a conscience.hmm how bout that.
But being a succubus is not all perks and privileges, it also came with lots and lots of curse.

Take a peek at this synopsis..

As if love wasn't hard enough! Imagine not being able to touch your boyfriend without sucking away his soul. Welcome to the world of Georgina Kincaid, a reluctant succubus living in Seattle who always seems to find herself in the middle of supernatural intrigue...

#1 - Succubus Blues

When it comes to jobs in hell, being a succubus seems pretty glamorous. A girl can be anything she wants. The wardrobe is killer, and mortal men will do anything just for a touch. Granted, they often pay with their souls, but why get technical?

But Seattle succubus Georgina Kincaid’s life is far less exotic. Her boss is a middle-management demon with a thing for John Cusack movies. Her immortal best friends haven’t stopped teasing her about the time she shape-shifted into the Demon Goddess get-up complete with whip and wings. And she can’t have a decent date without sucking away part of the guy’s life. At least there’s her day job at a local bookstore—free books, all the white chocolate mochas she can drink, and easy access to bestselling, sexy writer, Seth Mortensen, aka He Whom She Would Give Anything to Touch but Can’t.

#2 - Succubus on Top

Georgina Kincaid's job sucks. Literally.
Love hurts, and no one knows it better than Georgina Kincaid. If she so much as kisses her new boyfriend, she’ll drain his life force. Georgina is a succubus—a demon who draws her power from other men’s pleasure. Admittedly, the shapeshifting and immortality perks are terrific, and yes, Georgina did choose to join the ranks of hell centuries ago. But it seems completely unfair that a she-demon whose purpose is seduction can’t get hot and heavy with the one mortal who knows and accepts her for who she is.

#3 - Succubus Dreams

Some days, a girl just can't catch a break...especially when the girl in question is Georgina Kincaid, a shape-shifting succubus who gets her energy from seducing men. First there’s her relationship with gorgeous bestselling writer Seth Mortensen, which is unsatisfying on a number of levels. It’s not just that they can’t have sex in case Georgina inadvertently kills him (generally a turn-off for most guys). Lately, even spending time together is a challenge. Seth's obsessed with finishing his latest novel, and Georgina's under demonic orders to mentor the new (and surprisingly inept) succubus on the block.

#4 - Succubus Heat

Georgina Kincaid has been a bad, bad succubus...which should be a good thing. But lately, thanks to her foul mood over breaking up with bestselling writer Seth Mortensen, she’s been so wicked that Seattle’s über-demon Jerome, decides to “outsource” Georgina to a rival—and have her spy for him in the process.

#5 - Succubus Shadows

Georgina Kincaid has formidable powers. Immortality, seduction, shape-shifting into any human form she desires, walking in heels that would cripple mere mortals—all child’s play to a succubus like her.

Helping to plan her ex-boyfriend’s wedding is a different story. Georgina isn’t sure which is worse—that Seth is marrying another woman, or that Georgina has to run all over Seattle trying on bridesmaid dresses. Still, there are distractions. Georgina’s roommate, Roman, is cluttering her apartment with sexual tension. Then there’s Simone, the new succubus in town, who’s intent on corrupting Seth.

#6 - Succubus Revealed

Georgina Kincaid has had an eternity to figure out the opposite sex, but sometimes they still surprise her. Take Seth Mortensen. The man has risked his soul to become Georgina's boyfriend. Still, with Lucifer for a boss, Georgina can't just hang up her killer heels and settle down to domestic bliss. In fact, she's being forced to transfer operations...to Las Vegas.

Dark Vision By L.J. Smith

The first book that I have read from L.J. Smith was The Vampire Diaries and since then I became a fan. I followed LJ's works and made it a point to read her other works. What I love about her is her writing style...I'm a sucker for young vibrant heroines and dark, deeply troubled heroes especially when there's so much magic or fighting involve. lol.

This trilogy is included in my list of L.J. Smith's favorite, and I do really hope that you'll love Kaitlyn as I do. Enjoy :)

Book 1 - The Strange Power
The first book in the trilogy. In this we first see Kaitlyn Fairchild: the resident witch in her school. Kait doesn’t deliberately practice witchcraft, but every so often she gets the urge to draw. The problem is that the pictures are mysterious and macabre . . . and they always end up coming true before Kaitlyn can figure out what they mean. Given the chance to transfer to the Zetes Institute, a small boardinghouse school populated only by teens like Kait, with strange powers, Kaitlyn jumps at the chance. But neither the Institute nor Dr. Zetes is what they seem . . .

Book 2 - The Possessed
Having discovered what Dr. Zetes really wants them for—and what happened to their predecessors at the Institute, Kaitlyn and her friends Anna, Lewis, Rob, and Gabriel have to run for their lives. In doing so, Kaitlyn discovers that Gabriel is a vampire—but that he feeds directly on human life-energy. Kait is caught between golden Rob, the healer, and wicked Gabriel Wolfe, who may just be using her for his own purposes.

Book 3 - The Passion
Finally having found a weapon with which to fight Dr. Zetes, Kaitlyn and the others return to the Zetes Institute. But no one is ever exactly what they seem, and the triple-twist ending of the book has one of Kait’s suitors backing off, seeing the passion she shares with the other.

Dark Days Series by Jocelynn Drake

What can I say; this series of Jocelynn Drake is also outstanding... a vampire that does control fire? Lol...Mira is really a freak of nature... but I love her character and Danaus too and to honestly tell you this is the first vampire series that I've read.

So far this series contains 6 books...but I’m hoping that Ms. Drake will continue to add more and I mean more....

Here are the books and the sneakpeaks too :)
For centuries Mira has been a nightwalker -- an unstoppable enforcer for a mysterious organization that manipulates earth-shaking events from the darkest shadows.
But elemental mastery over fire sets her apart from others of her night-prowling breed...
and may be all that prevents her doom.

A new day dawns blood red...
A master of fire, Mira is the last hope for the world. For centuries, she has secretly
enforced the history-altering edicts of the Triad. Now she and her unlikely ally --
the human vampire hunter, Danaus -- have come to Venice, home of the
nightwalker rulers. But there is no safety in the ancient city, for the threat of
conflicts is in the wind... with unholy alliances and earth-shattering betrayals
taking hideous form in the shadows.

Those of her race fear Mira for the lethal fire she bends to her will -- a power
unique among nightwalkers, both a gift ... and a curse.
The naturi despise Mira for what she is -- as they prepare the final sacrifice that
will destroy the barriers between the worlds. And once the naturi are unchained,
blood, chaos, and horror will reign supreme on Earth.

As the fire-wielding enforcer of the Nightwalker Coven wrestles with the
mind-destroying ghosts of her dark past, the slaying of a senator’s daughter
in Savannah threatens to expose her kind to the brilliant light of day. The dawn
of chaos has come. The naturi have broken free of their eternal prison to feed on
the defenseless and unbelieving of an unprepared Earth.

Feared even by her own kind for her mastery of fire, the Nightwalker Mira is
summoned by the Coven to take her rightful place as Elder. But with this honor
comes grave responsibility—a commitment to the annihilation of the unleashed naturi.
For now the foul creatures walk the earth—and neither vampire nor human
will survive their horrific onslaught.

Book 6 - Burn The Night
The Great Awakening approaches . . .
After eons in exile, the naturi have broken their chains and now roam the Earth bent on revenge. It is the sworn duty of Mira, the Fire Starter, to protect the nightwalker race—though even she may be powerless to withstand the horrific onslaught. As Mira and her brave lover, the vampire slayer Danaus, stand ready to do battle, thousands of winged shapeshifters darken the skies. The war of ultimate extermination has begun, and the battleground is Mira's home turf.

Dark Swan Series by Richelle Mead

Among the many authors of fiction today I can say that Richelle Mead is one of my favorites. Her writing style is really unique and very enticing. I love her heroine and I love the way she creates an ass-kicking drop dead gorgeous lady clad in leather and carry sword or gun...lol.

I love all Ms. Mead's works but my most favorite is her Dark Swan Series....to all Eugenie fans out there (and I'm sure there are a lot) hope you enjoy this great series from our favorite author.
